The Adventure Begins
Sherry and I had been looking at homes available in the New Orleans market for quite some time (shortly after we moved into our current house). We always knew that our current house was our "starter house"... a place where you have enough room to get used to living together and start a family. As soon as the munchkin was born, we realized that we were running out of space... FAST.
So, when it became evident that we had the need and the opportunity to move into another house we really started looking. We thought about places closer to our parents... too expensive for what you can get. We thought about places right by Sherry's work... the houses were either way too small, way too expensive, or both. We thought about uptown... we are just too much of suburbanites to pull that off. We thought about the Northshore... then we remembered the drive across the Causeway.. no way.
We came across the great house near Sherry's work. Brand new, in the style we were looking for. But it was a bit small and on a smaller lot... and the price was a bit on the high-end of our budget. Just down the road we noticed a sign for a lot for sale. Actually, we saw four in the same subdivision. Tucked smack against the Mississippi River Levee, the Elmwood Plantation Estates seemed like an interesting place.
Long story short... we decided that the location and the potential was too good to pass up. We made an offer on Friday night and found out today that the owner has accepted. We will not break ground for a little while, but the planning and dreaming have already begun.
We would like to thank Ryan Mouledous for all of his time in reviewing the details of the property and giving his great advice on all the questions we had about building a house. His insight proved invaluable in our decision.
Please follow the developments as they happen on this project. We hope to show as much as possible through-out the entire process. Needless to say, we are very excited!
