Survey is in...

We just received the land survey that we comissioned, and there is some good news and bad news...

Good: The lot size is actually as it was described, so we did not loose anything due to lack of detail on the subdivision survey.

Bad: The two beautiful oaks on the lot appear (at least on the drawing) to be almost centerd in the lot... which means one or both will probably have to go. See the pictures from the first post to see the trees on the left side of the lot.

I plan to make a trip out to the lot tomorrow to get a measure myself of the trees in relation to the lot. Let's hope that the survey picture is a bit off and the trees won't end up affecting the house location!

Mama's House is getting there

As many of you may know, we have to wait until Mama's house is sold before we start construction on our new house. So, when Hurrican Katrina rolled through and put 4 - 6 inches of water throughout the house, it added to the list of things that needed to be done before the house was put on the market.

Well, we are 4 months after Katrina and progress has been made. Besides getting a new roof, the interior is about half way through its renovation. The painters are almost done. Here are some pictures of the interior. Doors, trim, cabinets and floors are left for the interior to be complete. Our goal is to stick a for sale sign in the ground by the end of January... we've got a way to go to get there.
