Lot Purchased!!

We finally own the lot!

Ok, it should really be a lot harder to get a cashier's check of this dollar amount from the Bank. All I had to do was walk up to a teller and spend about 5 minutes. No manager approvals, no long process of validating my identity, no armed guards escorting me to my car. Just a printed slip of paper with the words CASHIER CHECK on the top of it.

It was over two months of back and forth with the mortgage company, but the actual act of sale took 15 minutes.

FYI, if anyone lives in the New Orleans area and is looking for a title company, we highly recommend Delta Title Company. They were fast, on the ball, and very resonalble ($375 to close).

Well, now that is all said and done, we finally can say that we own the land. It was a nice feeling stopping over there and pulling the for sale sign out of the ground.

Sherry and I have been surfing the house plan websites pretty heavily and have come up with some of our favorites. Many of these are at the extreme high-end of our budget, if not completely outside of it. Nevertheless, here are some of our favorites:

Lot purchase update

Because of a couple of errors on the part of our mortgage company, we are just now setting up the closing for the land. As of today, we should close by the Wednesday of next week (August 10). Cross your fingers (because we are)!
